It’s been awhile

Hi there.

So. It’s been awhile.

Much longer than I anticipated. To be honest, I didn’t think I was going to skip posting on the blog the whole week of my cousin’s wedding. I thought I might have a chance to post here and there, but as usual, Life took over, and it was a CRAZY (but fun) week!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with South Asian weddings, they typically last 3 days. The first day is the Mehndi, or henna ceremony, and then it’s the Barat, which is when the actual wedding happens and the girl officially leaves her family, and then the Walima, which is the reception. My cousin, the groom, ended up spacing these three events one day apart, so it was a week long party! At times crazy, at time stressful, it was a lot of fun.

As it often is with things you’ve been waiting for for awhile and things you’re very excited for, once the wedding was over, my family and I didn’t know what to do. We’d been preparing for this wedding for months, and now that it’s over, it feels a bit strange. But also good, because I hope I’ll finally have time to get back into the groove of blogging, writing, baking, dieting, and getting ready for school, all things I’ve been putting off. 🙁

In terms of baking, I haven’t really been experimenting in the kitchen too much over the past few weeks, unfortunately. 🙁 It had been so long since I had baked, that on Wednesday, the day of cousin’s wedding, I headed into the kitchen with an itch in my hands. I ended up making my tried and tested Marble Cookie Bars (always a hit in my family!) just to have something to munch on. My family had been so starved for baked goods that they finished them in under a day.

I do have a new cookie recipe in my archives, so I’ll be posting that soon. Stay tuned! With the month of Ramadan (fasting) coming up soon, I hope to try my hand at a few new savoury recipes.

I also have craft tutorial/how-to that I hope to get to soon. So keep your eyes peeled for that as well 🙂
