A dream place

Posted on 8 August, 2011 by Ikhlas

So a few weeks ago, Random House posted a link to these wacky and fun bookshelves that exist out there. Here are some of my favourites:

Shaped like the figure eight infinity sign, this is clearly a bookshelf that is just meant to look pretty. There’s books on the inside, which I’m not sure how you would access. Maybe you have to climb over them?

Its a book! Its a plane! Its an inverted bookshelf! I have no idea how this works but it sort of reminds me of the invisible bookshelf in my friend Zainab‘s room. Something small and hidden makes this works, but you can’t see it. And that’s the magic of it all.

This is such a neat idea; only thing is you would need to have a lotย of books to make this look good. Otherwise its empty and would look lame. I kind of like the idea of walking up the stairs, getting tired, and taking a book break. That’s how all houses should be structured, according to me.

So the way this one works is that a word is processed into sound waves. Then the physical shape is made from those sound waves so that its part art, part book shelf. Cool!

Currently, my books sit on the shelves on my desk, and in my night table, since my room is too small for a proper bookshelf. Also, I don’t buy many books (except the ones I reread) so I don’t really see a need for a massive bookshelf.

But of course if I could buy all the books I wanted, this is what I’d want my bookshelf to look like:

๐Ÿ™‚

How do you store your books?

That’s all there is; there isn’t any more.

haha…I have since taken down my invisible book shelf, I’ve rearranged my room totally. Now I’ve stacked all my books up in lieu of an actual coffee table. It’s a bit of a chore to get one out, but worth it anyway. I have way too many books. I think last march I just had books everywhere in my bedroom in small neat stacks, I literally had to create pathways to get to my door, my bed, my closet. xD It was pretty awesome.

I love bookshelves!!!! I have a makeshift one in my room but it is currently over flowing ๐Ÿ˜› I can’t wait to get a house of my own though…I’ll totally dedicate a room to books…who needs a guest bedroom when you could turn it into your own personally library??
