Once upon a September

Swimming in the sky
Swimming in leaves
I race through the winds
And the trees

These words fail
To contain me
As I search and search
Aimlessly

We see their faces
Pressed up against windows
In awe and wonder
These tiny little dreamers

Do you remember?
The age of delight?
Of when-I-grow up
Every single September

But we are grown and we are up
Falling among lost dreams
Weary and old
Frozen hearts are cold

Lost utopias
Are you hiding
Among these flying leaves?
I am drowning
