Back to School

Hello everyone! So I can’t believe it’s been a week since I’ve posted on the blog. -_- Everyday, I kept wanting to blog, but things were just SO crazy that I just wouldn’t have time. 🙁

For those of you who don’t know, I started school again this past Monday, at the University of Toronto’s Teacher’s College. Above is a picture of the Toronto skyline from my school’s 12th floor…how cool is it?!

This past week has been SO overwhelming. I’m a little surprised at how overwhelming it was, given that I LOVE school and have been missing it terribly these past 2 years. But this program is a lot different than my undergrad, since I didn’t pick and choose when I wanted my classes, nor do I have breaks between them. I’m in the same classes with most of my peers, all day, and the only time to get homework done is when I get home at 5:30.

The commute is something else to get used to. Before, when I was interning at a publishing house downtown, I’d come home exhausted around 6:30, but there’d be nothing to do, other than to change, eat dinner, go to sleep, and then do it again the next day. But now, there’s SO much to do that the commute really eats up a lot of my time. I’m going to have to figure out a way to do some work on the train, otherwise I’ll be having some very late nights!

This week was also the week that my computer decided to die on me. -_- After having worked (semi) perfectly for the past years, the screen went completely haywire a week into school, and a week before the warranty expired. Luckily, it’s still covered by the warranty, so that’s one less thing to worry about, but now I’m without a laptop for the next 2 to 4 weeks. Ugh!

Books-wise, I FINALLY finished The Historian, which it took me an unbearably long time to finish. I’m really hoping to post a review of it soon, before I forget all about it, since I have a lot of mixed feelings. I’m currently reading Kazuo Ishiguro’s Never Let Me Go, which was made into a movie a few years ago. I’m LOVING it so far, especially his writing style, so it’s a perfect escape at the end of a long day on the commute home.

I’m really hoping to be able to post a new savoury recipe for you guys by the end of this weekend! It’s something I made a lot over this Ramadan, and I can’t wait to share it with you all. 🙂

Sorry if this post seems a bit diary/journal like. It’s been a crazy week, and I suppose I needed to just write it all down so I could process it better. I promise future posts won’t be so descriptive. 😛 I’ve been learning some really interesting things about education and the process of learning that I can’t wait to share with you all. 🙂

Anyways, I hope you all had a great week and are enjoying your weekend!

Thanks for reading,

Ikhlas
