So a friend of mine, Amanda Cline, just started this really cool website called Fiction Under Five. Basically, Amanda aims to write stories under 500 words or less! Its an ambitious plan, but she’s kept to it (mostly) with all her stories coming just under 500 words.
Some of my favourites include Lavender and The Poetry Machine. Even though the stories are short, Amanda writes with clear and simple language, which evoke the senses and put you right into the setting of whatever she’s describing. And for that, I commend her (especially for doing it under 500 words)!
She also takes suggestions for stories (or snapshots, as she calls them) via Twitter and email, so check her out and send her some ideas. Its fun to see how the simple suggestions turn into beautiful stories. ๐
That’s all there is; there isn’t any more.
Thanks for reading,
Ikhlas
P.S- Amanda if you’re reading this, I have an idea for you: a story about a note left in a library book. Go!
Thanks Ikhlas! You’re such a sweetheart. I will most definitely write a story about a note left in a library book.
