Hi guys.
Sorry about the lack of updates and the lack of recipes on the blog! It’s been a crazy month, ever since my cousin’s wedding finished, especially with Ramadan. I want to post stuff, but with work and family gatherings and fasting, I don’t get as much done as I want to.
Originally, I had thought that I’d be postingΒ more recipes during Ramadan, since I love experimenting with cooking. But instead, I didn’t end up posting any (except for this).
Last year I didn’t really know about the rules of photography and would take horrible, dark pictures of my food nearΒ iftar time (around sunset time) and then post them on here. But after learning that natural lighting is the best, I realised that since I made all my goodies at night, close to sunset time, there was no way I could photograph them and post them at all.
But I have a whole host of yummy recipes that I just can’t wait to share with you all! All of them are savoury recipes, so I’m excited to expand that part of the blog.
And now to these cookies. π I made these for a friend’sΒ iftar party last week, and snapped a few shots in the daytime, before I went over to her house.
For those of you who’ve followed my blog for awhile, you’ll remember that the first recipe I ever posted on here was of my favourite Sugar Cookie Recipe. When I saw this pinΒ on Pinterest, I decided I wanted to try and make my sugar cookies in a different way. Which led to this recipe. π
Instead of using cookie cutters, all you do is divide the dough into two separate bowls and to use food colouring on one (or both) of the doughs. Then you just roll them out evenly, cut into identical rectangles, and roll into a log. Then you just slice them and bake them!
Using cookie cutters can get a bit tedious with sugar cookies, so I liked the method of just slicing the log and ending up with a pretty pinwheel pattern at the end of it.
Anyways, here’s the recipe…enjoy!

I didn’t end up making frosting for these cookies, but you’re welcome to if you want to. Instead, I dusted them with a sprinkling of icing sugar. π
Buttery and light, I absolutely love these thin sugar cookies! Whether they’re covered with butter icing and sprinkles, or eaten plain with icing sugar, they’re sure to bring a smile to everyone’s face.
The pinwheel effect was also really fun to do; I can definitely see myself using different colour schemes for different occasions!
So if you’re looking for a sugar cookie recipe that’s basic and easy, and uses ingredients you probably already have at home, look no further. It’s a basic recipe that you can adapt and change, and one that has never let me done. So I hope you try it out!
Thanks for reading,
Ikhlas
