Whoa, slow down!

Hi everyone,

So I’ve had a bit of a crazy day, one in which I tried to do several things, but didn’t really get much done, thus leading to a lack of productivity. It all began when I woke up late today, way beyond my normal time, which completely threw off my schedule. šŸ™ I’m definitely a creature of consistency, so when one thing goes wrong, my whole day gets out ofĀ whack.

What’s worse is that I didn’t accomplish much on the weekend either. I was soĀ ready to write Saturday morning, my head bursting with ideas, but as usual, I got caught up with family stuff. Continue reading →

Regular Stuff

Hello šŸ™‚

So I haven’t been blogging much this week, and I thought I’d do a little catch-up post today, before I completely forget.

This week I’ve been writing a lot, which has made me infinitely happier. Last week, I said I wanted to write, but then spent the majority of the day on facebook, twitter, checking my email, on blogger, on goodreads, and watching dramas. It was most unproductive.

So I ditched Facebook (or ratherĀ deactivatedĀ it) which helped out a lot. I managed to write 10,000 words this week, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but was a majorĀ achievement for me.

Its weird because I’d spend the whole day writing, agonizing over scenes and sentences and words, exhausted at the end of the day, only to check my word count at the end of the day to discover I had only written 3000 measly words, when I thought I had at leastĀ written 5000 words. But clearly not >_> Continue reading →

Review: Darker Still

Darker Still (Magic Most Foul, #1)In Darker Still,Ā the year is 1880. Seventeen-year-old Natalie Stewart has just finished boarding school and has returned to her New York home, awaiting what her father will do with her next. She’s mute, and knows she doesn’t have many prospects in terms of marriage or a family. The best she can hope for is being sent to a convent.

Told through diary entries, Natalie’s story takes a turn when a strange and alluring painting makes its way to the Metropolitan Museum, where her father is curator. As Natalie is recruited into the acquisitions department, she hears about how the subject of the painting, a young British lord, mysteriously disappeared one day, and the cause is considered to be suicide.

As Natalie spends more and more time with the painting, she realises that Lord Denbury is trapped inside the painting, and it is only Natalie who can go through and save him. Trapped there after a demon took over his body, Lord Denbury begs Natalie to help him escape his prison and Natalie agrees, since she seems to find her voice inside the painting. But as the demon continues his dark prowls through the city, Natalie becomes in danger of being found out…and also of losing her heart. Continue reading →

Review: Silence

Silence (Hush, Hush, #3)By now, you’re probably well aware of Nora’s story, from the Hush HushĀ saga, so I won’t reiterate too much in terms of background information on Nora and Patch.

In the beginning ofĀ Silence, Nora wakes up alone in a cemetery, apparently abandoned, and has no recollection of how she got there or who brought her there. Not only that, but she’s been missing for 11 weeks. Nora can’t remember the past 11 weeks, nor months before that has well.

Patch is seemingly gone from her life, and Nora can’t remember him as she tries to put the pieces of her life back together. Her friends and family don’t always tell her the truth, so its up to Nora to figure what happened to her, and who this mysterious, but mesmerizing, stranger who she keeps seeing everywhere. Review: The Night Circus

The Night CircusThe Night Circus tells the story of a young girl and a young boy, who are bound together to participate in a challenge, which makes them use every bit of their wits to try and beat the other. But this is no ordinary challenge. It is a challenge of magical ability, and the Night Circus is the venue.

In events that span the turn of the century, Celia and Marco circle each other like prey, without knowing who their opponent is, only knowing that they must beat each other in order to release themselves from this challenge which has taken over their whole lives.

Yet what they don’t expect is to fall in love with each other over the process. Bound to destroy each other, destined to be in love, Celia and Marco are forced to question whether true love trumps all, even the lives of those connected with the Circus, as the forces holding the Circus begin to unravel and destroy everyone involved.
