Dreaming of New York City

Hello friends!

So I have exciting news to share with you (which you might be able to guess from the title lol): I’m going to New York City!

This is my first time going to the Big Apple and I am just tickled with excitement. 🙂

We have a long weekend coming up in Canada, the Easter weekend and I’ll be finally done with classes, with a week off before I begin my internship. And so I decided that I needed a break and go on a mini vacation.

It’ll just be my mom, myself, and one of my brothers and we’re going to brave the 7 hour drive there. After the 20 hour drive to Orlando, Florida 2 years ago, I think it’ll be a breeze! I’m already dreaming of the snacks I’ll bring along, because obviously a road trip needs good snacks. 🙂

I’m excited to do some shopping and see the sights. But the number one reason I’m going to NYC is to see my bff Fatima who moved there 3 months ago after she got married! It’s been 3 months since I last saw her, and I am SO excited for our reunion. To be honest, I’m more excited about seeing her. 😀

So I’ve been researching for the past few days (naturally on Pinterest lol) to find out all the things we can see and do in New York City in 3 days. So if any of you have been to New York City and have any recommendations on where to stay, what to do, where to shop, and (obviously) where to eat, let me know in the comments below! My list gets longer by the day, but I’d love to know if any of you have been and what you loved.

I’m hoping to bring my laptop with me so I can do a travel diary of sorts- not sure how much time I’ll have given how packed our itinerary will be, but I want to try! I love watching vlogs on Youtube and while I can’t do the same because of being camera shy, I want to do my own version of it so I can share with you all what I’m doing. 🙂

I’m so excited I can hardly sleep lol! Only 14 more sleeps to go. 🙂

Thanks for reading,

Ikhlas

    Hi Ikhlas,

You should check out Max Brenner and Serendipity for yummy desserts. Max Brenner’s vegetarian burger is also amazing! There is also the Halal Guys, which is a good street eat. Also try Grimaldi’s for their pizza.

In terms of sight seeing, we loved how New York has so many free attractions. We love parks so Central Park was where we spent an entire day. The Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge Park and Grand Central Station are also nice. Obviously, times square is the highlight! We enjoyed taking pictures with people dressed up in superhero costumes. The hop-on-hop-off bus was great for sight seeing.

We are sure you’ll have an awesome time, inshallah!

Thanks so much, girls! I got the sight-seeing stuff down, now I just want to know where to eat! So thanks for the restaurant suggestions 🙂
My brother is obsessed with trying the Halal Guys so I know we’ll be making a stop there inshAllah. Any other halal restaurant recommendations?

      Thanks again! 🙂

Yes we are definitely eating at halal guys, so good! There’s also a heavenly halal Turkish place by my place! And an italian place, Numero 28 which has the most amazing pizza I have ever tasted. I have yet to find a dessert place that I really love, the cupcakes at Magnolia and Crumbs aren’t as good as yours 🙁
