Hello friends!
It’s been awhile since I did a ‘Friday Things’ post so I thought it’d be a nice time to sit down and catch up with you all. How have you been? ๐
I’ve been on a week long break this week, known as March Break here in Canada. It’s the first time I’ve had it off since I was a student myself, and I have to say it’s been a welcome break! The week went by WAY too fast though and I’m sitting here on a Friday afternoon wishing I had another week off. But I’m not ungrateful. It’s been a wonderful week of sleeping in, resting, watching Downton Abbey reruns, and eating. ๐
So Iย finally watched the movie that everyone’s been raving about for the past 6 months: Frozen. And while I enjoyed it, I have to say I was a tad bit disappointed, to be honest. Maybe it was the fact that it was hyped so much, but I found the movie not as good as I had hoped and expected. What I did love were the songs! Iย still have them stuck in my head, especially “Let it go” which I have had on repeat ever since I watched the movie 2 nights ago.ย Let it gooooo!
One of my good friends is getting married today, and I spent the week attending some of her wedding functions (South Asian readers, you know what I’m talking about!) and it’s been nice to catch up with old friends from university whom I haven’t seen in ages. She had also arranged to have a photo booth at herย mehndi or henna ceremony last night and it was so much fun posing with a bunch of the other girls! The hall where she had the mehndi was where so many other weddings have taken place, but more recently my bff’s wedding and my cousin’s wedding, and so I was in a whirlwind of memory as I walked up to the hall.
Which might explain why I slipped on a patch of ice and fell! It’s funny (now) but the last mehndi I attended, I fell coming down the stairs as my heel got caught in my long dress, and yesterday I slipped on ice and went flying down. I’m starting to think it’s becoming a tradition for me to fall at mehndis…
I’ve recently become obsessed with braids, and finally mastered a French braid! It happened a few weeks ago by chance, as I was sitting at my computer and just started playing with my hair. I’ve always understood the principle of French braiding but could never master it. But I kept playing with my hair and finally learned how to do it! Then this week, I was similarly bored and watched a tutorial for a fishtail braid. I tried it out and it turned out to be very easy. It’s funny because they both always seemed so impossible to me, but now they seem so easy.
We had another huge snowstorm on Wednesday, and I was just so thankful that I wasn’t driving to school that day! It’s so much warmer today and I just pray that the snow is gone for good. With only 2 weeks left in March, I hope we’ve seen the last of it for this season!
In book news, I’m readingย Half Bad, which I was dying to read, but I’m sad to say hasn’t grabbed me yet. I don’t dislike it; when I’m reading it, it’s quite good. But it just hasn’t gripped my attention yet. When I’m not reading it, I don’t really think about it, like other books. Which is unfortunate because I was SO excited to read it. ๐
Anyway, I’d better get back to lesson planning and homework! Hope you all had a good week, and an ever better weekend. ๐
Thanks for reading,
Ikhlas
