So it’s a been a crazy last week of summer for me! It was my last week before starting school, and as I sit here on Friday afternoon, thinking about the week and the year ahead, I’m excited, and a little bit nervous. 🙂
Monday was labour day, so I just spent the day relaxing and hanging out with my family. Then on Tuesday, I went into my local elementary school to observe what a first day of school/week looks like. It was really interesting, and got me into the teaching frame of mind as I watched the teacher set up her classroom and set rules.
Then on Wednesday, I had orientation at the university. It was SO overwhelming, guys! It started at 8:15 and only went to about 1pm, but there was just SO much information to absorb. Plus the commute to Toronto is going to be painful, I can already see that. But after having to wake up at 4 AM and going to work at 5 AM over the past year, I’ve learned that anything after 4 AM is a treat. 🙂 How’s that for some perspective? Lol.
Then I spent the rest of the week doing some back to school shopping. If you know anything about me, you know that I love getting organized, and buying school supplies. But given that this is a completely new program, I didn’t know what to expect, supplies wise, so I put off buying any new binders and things until I knew the format of the classes. So after finding out, I picked a few essentials that I didn’t have and a new bag from Aldo. hehehe. 🙂
I didn’t work over the past week; it’s been more than a week since my last shift at Chapters, and I’ve missed it terribly! I had to go in this week, just to visit, because I’d missed the books so much. I never thought I’d say this, but I miss my 5 AM shifts. 😐 I’ll be working weekends only now, which’ll be a lot different than having the store all to myself and my 5 colleagues so early in the mornings. It’s strange to think how much I used to dread those early mornings, and how I miss them now. 😛
I also posted these super moist, delicious Chocolate Chip Buttermilk Muffins on the blog. I’ve made them twice now, and both times they’ve been very soft and fluffy. I hate hard muffins, and this recipe did not disappoint. 🙂
I’ve been reading the same book for awhile now, The Historian. It’s been quite slow-going, and I was close to abandoning with a heavy heart, because it was interesting, just extremely S-L-O-W. But then I reached a point (part 2, I think), and it picked up considerably and now I’m really enjoying it! I think I just didn’t give it the time it needed to develop, and expected the plot to be a quick one, since I was so busy and life was so hectic. But I’ve spent majority of the day just savouring it, and now I really like it! Hopefully I’ll post a review when I finish.
Looking forward, it’s easy to say that life is going to become a lot more hectic and crazy in the coming months. I don’t know what this will mean for the blog yet. Recipe wise, I won’t be making as many things as I used to, since I’ll be in school 5 days a week, and then at work at least 1 day a week. That’s not to say that I won’t be baking at all (because that would be crazy-talk), but it’ll definitely be a lot less. I do have some recipes stored up, but the pictures are just sitting on my computer, waiting to be edited, before I post them.
So even though I’ll be blogging a lot less, you’ll still be able to find me in the usual places, Facebook and Twitter. 🙂 So do check those out if you want to know what I’m up to! My goal is to blog at least 2 times a week…wish me luck. 🙂
Anyways, hope you’ve all had a fabulous week! And for those of you who’ve started school already, I hope you had a good first week. 🙂
Thanks for reading,
Ikhlas
