A to Z Bookish Survey

Let’s talk books!

I saw this survey on my friend Chelsey‘s blog recently, and decided to give it a go. Like, Chelsey, I’ve been a bit stuck on what to blog about, other than book reviews and recipes, so I decided to switch things up a bit today. 🙂

Hope you enjoy!

Author you’ve read the most books from:

Probably Sophie Kinsella. I’ve read almost all of hers, except her newest Wedding Night. Other than I’ve Got Your Number, I’ve LOVED all of her books. They’re my guilty pleasure, and are perfect at the end of a long, tiring week.

Best Sequel Ever:

The Reckoning (The Taker, #2)

The Reckoning by Alma Katsu! Just as mesmerizing and horrifying as the first in the series (The Taker), The Reckoning surpassed all my expectations of mediocre sequels. It was AMAZING.

Currently Reading:

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova.

Drink of Choice While Reading:

Nothing really. I’m not a coffee or tea drinker. But I do love reading while I eat. 😉

E-Reader or Physical Book?

Physical book all the way!

Fictional Character that You Probably Would Have Actually Dated in High School:

Lol. I don’t date, so this question doesn’t really apply to me. But a character I had a huge crush on while I was in high school was Michael Moscowitz from the Princess Diaries.

Glad You Gave this Book a Chance:

Packing for Mars: Preparing for Life in the Void by Mary Roach. I don’t read non-fiction, but I’d seen this Science book pop up on a lot of blogs/GR pages, so I looked into it, and I’m SO glad I did! Written in a humorous tone, Packing for Mars was very accessible and enjoyable to read. It was perfect for anyone who loves Space and learning  more about it.

Hidden Gem Book:

Pretty Girl 13 by Liz Coley. It isn’t that hidden, but I don’t think it’s received the recognition it deserves. Haunting and disturbing, I couldn’t put this one down, not until I figured out who had kidnapped Angie.

Important Moment of Your Reading Life:
When I was 10 years old, and sitting in my bedroom in a snowy night, opening the first pages of a little book called Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which I had just received for Eid. One page in, and I was in love. I put the book down right away when I realised my mom had gotten me the second one in the series, and went to go buy the first one next morning. It was truly magical. 🙂

Just Finished:

Bridget Jones’s Diary, which unfortunately wasn’t as funny and heart-warming as I had wished. I just found her so negative all the time, and also kind of annoying.

Kind of Books You Won’t Read:

Sc-Fi, Fantasy, and straight-up Romance.

Longest Book You’ve Read:

Hmm, can’t remember anything specific. Probably something for school.

Major Book Hangover Because of:

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)

Probably Catching Fire in the Hunger Games trilogy. I just remember my mind being BLOWN after that dramatic last line in the book, and going crazy waiting for the 3rd one.

Number of Bookcases you own:

Only one. *blushes* I borrow more than I buy.

One Book You’ve Read Multiple Times:

Lol, just one? I reread A LOT of books, especially the ones I love. But one notable one is probably Pride and Prejudice. I never tire of it, and there’s always something new to discover or think about after each rereading. 😉

Preferred Place to Read:

In my bed, preferably early on a Saturday or Sunday morning. 🙂

Quote that Inspires You:

“It is impossible to live without failing something, unless you live so cautiously you may not have lived at all- in which case, you fail by default.” -J.K Rowling

Reading Regret:
Not reading more Classics, especially Dickens.
Series You Started and Need To Finish (all books are out):
Bridget Jones series. But I think there’s a new one coming out?
Three of Your All-Favorite Books:
Ugh, just three?! Pride and Prejudice. Harry Potter. The Taker.
Unapologetic Fangirl For:
Harry Potter! As they say in HP fandom: “After all this time?” ‘Always.” <3

Very Exited For This Release More Than All the Others:

The Descent by Alma Katsu, the last in the Taker trilogy. It was supposed to come out this year, but has been pushed to next year. After such an amazing sequel, I am PUMPED for the last book in this heart-stopping trilogy. 🙂

Worst Bookish Habit:
Abandoning books. I feel so guilty!
X Mark the Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:
What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen.

Your Lastest Book Purchase:

Persuasion by Jane Austen. One of Austen’s I don’t own, but one of many I haven’t ready. 🙁 Need to get on that!

Zzz-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):

Probably The Taker. I just couldn’t stop reading, and when I did, I felt like the creepy villain Adair was watching me as I slept! That’s what you call good storytelling. 🙂
Well, that’s it! Feel free to do this tag if you’d like…it’s a lot of fun! 🙂
Thanks for reading,
Ikhlas
