5 Summer Trends I’m Currently Loving

So some of you, who have been visiting this blog for awhile, might remember that I used to do the occasional post on fashion. I did a series (can you call 2 posts a series…sure) on Muslim Fashionistas, as well as some problems I have with fashion. Since it’s been quite awhile since I did my last fashion post, I thought it was high time!

So here is a list of my 5 favourite trends for the summer/spring season.

Floral Prints

So floral prints for spring and summer aren’t exactly revolutionary, but there’s just something about them, that makes my hand stray to them as soon as the weather turns warmer. While I wouldn’t necessarily wear floral prints as shirts, I really love this pink print, since there’s something very fun and whimsical about it. This is usually the time that I tend to buy a lot of floral printed scarves and wear them year-round for a pop of colour and fun in the drearier months.

Pastel Coloured Pants

Nothing screams warmer weather than pretty, pastel colours! When I first saw coloured pants burst onto the scene a few seasons ago, I admit I wasn’t the biggest fan of them. But now, these pants are coming in such pretty pastel colours, and they just seem so fun and colourful and summery to me. Paired with a simple top, pastel coloured pants pretty much become the showpiece of your outfit.

Maxi Dresses and Skirts

Since I can’t wear shorts or mini skirts in the summer, I pretty much LIVE in maxi dresses and skirts! Pants are banished in my wardrobe, since there’s nothing more comfortable with a long, loose maxi dress or skirt. Paired with a thin cardigan or a long-sleeved t-shirt, maxi dresses save me so much time and trouble, especially in the heat. I can never have enough!

Crochet/Lace Details

It’s no secret that I love all things pink and lace. This is why I can’t get enough of the trend of incorporating lace and crochet into everything. It adds a girly touch, which I naturally love. Is there anything more feminine and pretty than lace? I think not!

Wedge Sandals

While I love wearing flats and gladiator sandals in the summer, I’m sort of falling in love with wedges too. I’m not a big fan of wearing heels in the summer (or anytime really, since I tend to fall flat on my face), but I think wedges solve the problem of adding a bit of oomph to your outfit, without going over the top. They’re very summery, come in a variety of colours and patterns, and can be used to dress up or dress down an outfit.

Can you tell I’m in the mood for spring and summer?! Technically it’s supposed to be spring, but we’re still getting very cold weather here in Toronto. Apparently it’s supposed to be gone by this weekend, but we’ll see!

I just went on a mini shopping spree so I can’t really be thinking about or looking at pictures of clothes and accessories, but how can you say no to pastel colours and lace?!

Oh that’s so strange, Natalie! I can see them on my computer…weird!
And yes, my bank account is still recovering from my last shopping trip (the phone that cost 4645735 might ring a bell lol), so alas I cannot indulge! 🙁
